This is the best possible outcome for this stage of the process!
Thank you!
Thank you to everyone on this mailing list who wrote letters or spoke at the public meeting. Our collective efforts and engagement has made a real difference!
I would also like to extend sincere thanks to the Town of EG planning staff and Council for considering feedback from our community and ensuring a clear decision was made within the 120-day deadline set by the Planning Act.
What's Next?
While this is a huge win for the community, it may not be the end of our journey.
The town will now issue a Notice of Decision, after which the developer will have 20 calendar days to file an appeal with the OLT.
If an appeal is filed, it will be posted on the OLT's Case Status page once it has been processed by the OLT. The town is also required to formally notify anyone who submitted written comments or spoke at the public meeting. There is typically a delay before residents receive formal notification from the Town and before the case appears online on the OLT page. These delays are due to administrative processing by both the OLT and the Town and can often take a few weeks.
To keep everyone informed, I will proactively reach out to the town in December to confirm whether they are aware of an appeal being filed.
In the event that the developer does not file an appeal, they may still submit a revised application. There is no time limit on submitting a new application, and any new application would start the entire review process from the beginning.
The next chapter starts now - stay tuned.
